Job description: Financial and Accounting Analyst required for Provincial Government Agency client, downtown Toronto (currently remote-based).

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: Initial term of 9 months with possible extension for an additional 3 months. Start date ASAP.
Compensation: $36.43/hr.
Work Hours: 7.25 hours per day during Regular Business Hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week).
Work Location: Currently remote-based until further notice; expected to transfer to onsite at client’s downtown Toronto office (on PATH and TTC) on a full-time or hybrid basis later in the assignment.
Responsibilities Summary:
- Provide fiscal advisory services to the Province of Ontario, corporations and other government ministries and agencies.
- Conduct activities critical to the Province’s financial instruments (e.g. foreign exchange, money market, bonds and loans), financial and systems controls, trade settlements, and payments systems and processes.
- Research emerging issues, analyze and advise on current and future impact of financial markets on Provincial finances.
- Utilize financial and risk management software products (e.g. treasury, accounting, bank payment systems) to develop, maintain and enhance internal control systems.
- Contribute analytical expertise to operational risk reduction projects and other internal control procedures.
- Contribute to the development and efficient maintenance of settlements-related business processes; recommend and implement updates to standard operating procedures and associated documentation as required.
- Additional analytical and advisory responsibilities related to fiscal risk management and trade settlements activities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post-secondary Degree in relevant discipline.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 3+ years of financial analysis, settlements and accounting experience from a banking, capital markets/securities or lending facility.
Technical Skills Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of financial software products related to risk management, accounting and trade settlements.
- Expert Level MSExcel (will be tested).
- Proficient Business Writing skills (may be tested).
Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Sound understanding of capital markets and financial instruments, settlements and payment functions in a large and complex organization.
- Subject matter expertise in Canadian and international banking, securities and settlement principles, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Advanced organizational, coordinative and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize work effectively for self and others, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project management principles, methodologies and best practices.
- Superior interpersonal skills: excellent listening skills; ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholder group; ability to provide and receive professional, effective feedback.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work onsite as required, abiding by organization Health and Safety policies.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Provincial Government security check, possibly including a Fingerprint Check, prior to assignment start. Please note that Marberg will reimburse for the cost of the Fingerprint Check upon your acceptance of Assignment Offer and submission of approved Expense Receipts.
