Job title: Fund Accounting & Administration, SrAssc
Job description: Basic Purpose: Provides daily management and coordination of accounting services to the following products: Mutual funds, Pooled funds, Pension Plans, Not for Profit accounts and Endowment accounts. The successful candidate will be responsible for oversight of services performed by the accounting teams, which include, but are not limited to: ledger to subledger review; income and expense processing; daily, weekly, and monthly reporting; regulatory reporting; corporate action verification; and NAV review and dissemination. Also responsible for working with client service and other Centers of Excellence (COEs) on resolving queries related to accounting activities.
Job Duties:
Responsible for periodic timely & accurate information provided to clients.
Responsible for hiring, training, & development of staff.
Conducts higher-level review of subordinate’s work before distribution.
Primary focus of the position focused on oversight of accounting operations for accuracy and quality of services.
Compiles business information from MCH or other systems for more senior management reporting.
Provides input to management during the budgeting process.
Liaises with other COEs as needed.
Responsible for mentoring and promoting inclusion.
Strong managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Actively participate in the planning and preparing of the semi-annual and annual mutual fund financial statements
Actively participate in the planning and preparing of the mutual fund year end distribution calculations and tax returns
During the course of normal day to day operation, be responsible for identifying any unusual or potentially suspicious transaction activity and must report and/or escalate in accordance with corporate policy and guidelines detailed in relevant operating procedures
Job Requirements:
An accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA or CFA) is an asset and a university degree or the equivalent in relevant work experience.
3-5 years of accounting or related financial services experience with some management and preparing pertinent regulatory and financial reporting experience.
Knowledge of Canadian regulations and taxation.
Strong Excel skills.
Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
