Job description: We are looking for our Head of Engineering!

Your mission is to be the right hand of our CFO and help him build a tech first Finance and Internal Operations team. We are not a traditional finance function, we do a lot more than just keep the score: we own products, we manage complex high volume cash pipelines, we manage and estimate the risk we hold in our fintech products, we lead frequent M&A deals, and help shape all day to day and strategic decisions by providing real time financial information; we are also responsible for all Hopper’s internal operations. As the head of engineering in Finance, you will have the responsibility to lead our engineering efforts to supercharge Hopper’s growth across all these areas.

We are a code first finance function, as we believe hyper growth processes can only scale if they are tech enabled. You will help us continue shaping this culture within Finance and Internal Operations. You should expect to build a material organization with teams focused on product finance, data, business intelligence, cash management processes, IPO readiness and internal operations.

You will be part of the wider engineering organization and the most senior person in the team, and you will help us build the future of Engineering at Hopper. Furthermore, you will see the big picture and, in addition to tackling engineering problems and scaling teams, you will solve product and people problems, bringing to bear not only technical skill but also strategic business acumen. You are also happy to work with senior stakeholders and are capable of influencing them, with clear and concise messages.

What you’ll do:

• Be the technology leader in Finance and Internal Operations
• Architect, design and develop robust, scalable solutions across product finance, internal operations, business intelligence and other Finance areas
• Coach managers and individual contributors and grow them as leaders and technologists
• Be an effective leader in the finance management leadership team, helping shape areas outside of your core role
• Take an active role in organizational design, recruitment and process improvements
• Be a trusted advisor to our technology leadership and your peers
• Leading and involving other tech leaders from Hopper in technical due diligence on acquisitions
• Champion the Hopper Leadership Principles
• Facilitate continuous improvements across the engineering management and their respective teams
• Drive continuous improvement through innovation
• Get us IPO ready

About You:

• Previous experience of leading leaders
• Not afraid of occasional coding
• Can-do attitude
• Ready to inspire team members
• Have experience with leading teams towards creating secure, scalable products
• Have experience with data engineering

Huge plus if you:

• Have experience with IPO readiness/IPO system
• Have automated finance functions before
• Have worked with product finance, such as: fraud or chargebacks
• Have experience with automation of KYC or ALM
• Understand integration solutions within enterprise systems
