One of our major consulting Clients is looking for an IFRS Accounting Expert

Length: 6 to 12 months contract with possibility of extension

Location: Toronto, ON (100% Remote work)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As an IFRS Accounting Expert you’ll be is responsible for providing technical accounting guidance and expertise to perform daily operations of the external reporting team and ensure compliance with changing regulatory requirements, current accounting standards and internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES (But are not limited to):

§ Manage and lead in a fast-paced team-oriented environment to prepare all external reporting requirements including annual consolidated financial statements, economic benefit reporting and the Annual Report ensuring adherence to applicable accounting principles

§ Review and contribute to the planning and execution of financial services client projects, including management of engagement economics. Develop and lead internal and external timely communications relevant to our professionals and clients. Develop materials for and participate in the delivery of presentations to clients and firm personnel.

§ Lead the preparation of client’s monthly close process, consolidation process and preparation of financial statements in accordance with current accounting standards, including related note disclosures

§ Provide support for the annual audit by preparing and reviewing working papers, financial statements note disclosures and providing auditors with all required and requested information on time; respond to queries from external auditors as required, escalating any issues

§ Partner with technical, accounting and business teams to lead design and execute development and automation of internal and external reports and controls using multiple reporting tools, techniques, and sources of data; project manage and ensure timely delivery within a very tight timeline

§ Provide support for the annual audit by preparing and reviewing working papers, financial statements note disclosures and providing auditors with all required and requested information on time; respond to queries from external auditors as required, escalating any issues

§ Identify and execute process improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-team stakeholders to drive operational efficiencies, building upon a culture of continuous improvement

§ Assist in the preparation of reporting to internal stakeholders, and other reference material and presentations on financial information for senior management to aid decision making

§ Lead the preparation of ad hoc financial requests, FOIs and press releases as needed

§ Collaborate with appropriate lines of business and senior management to enable timely provision of required financial information and address queries related to financial statements, note disclosures and annual reports

§ Assist Senior Manager of External Reporting to assess current financial reporting needs, articulate anticipated reporting needs and develop recommendations to drive continuous improvement within the external reporting function

§ Proactively identify areas of improvement within the team and develop actionable recommendations for procedural and/or system changes required to strengthen the external reporting function and control framework

QUALIFICATIONS:

§ University degree in Finance or Accounting

§ Professional accounting designation (CPA)

§ 7+ years of experience in accounting, preparation of financial statements and working papers

§ In-depth knowledge of IFRS

§ Understanding of client’s business model and the lottery and gaming industry is an asset

REQUIRED SKILLS:

§ Proficient with MS Office

§ Effective communication and presentation skills; adept at preparing presentations that provides technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience

§ Analytical thinking skills: ability to research

§ Attention to detail

§ Diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

§ Relationship management skills
