We are looking for an inventory analyst to gain deep understanding of refinery inventory flows and processes of our downstream business. You’ll collaborate across the business with supply operations, upstream and marketing accounting, and other key stakeholders.
As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to learn the current processes in the current SAP system (ECC6) and then apply these in the new SAP S4 cloud system. This role will also provide the opportunity to gain deeper knowledge of our refinery business, refined products trading, and SAP S4. The role offers significant learning opportunities in understanding our integrated value chain and the refined products markets.
You will use your expertise to:
- Create the monthly report of crude and refined inventory valuation based on First-in First-out (FIFO) methodology and for the quarterly net realizable value (NRV) for the refinery and product supply
- Analyze crude and refined product inventory impacts
- Support the SAP conversion of inventory processes to the new SAP S4 cloud system and participate in future system and process improvements
- Participate in reshaping the current role post SAP S4 go live to include due diligence and analysis on all the revenue and expenses associated with the refined products deal cycle, thereby expending your breadth of knowledge of our business
- Respond to non-routine requests for financial information and analysis
- Prepare working capital analysis for supply and inventory related accounts
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Work with distribution and supply to ensure month-end accruals are booked in the system

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- Five years of accounting and analytical experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA CMA or CGA designation
- Strong computer skills including advanced excel skills, pivot table, v-lookup
- Natural propensity and curiosity towards emerging data analytic methods and information systems
- Independent thinker and able to build and understand complex excel models
- Demonstrate process improvement mindset
- Collaborate with others to achieve the best results and deliver the most value

Preference for:
- Knowledge of SAP accounting, sales and distribution, and material management modules would be an asset
- Knowledge of the process inherent in oil and gas exploration, production, and refining.
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
