Job description: Position: IT Network/Telecom Architect
Location: Toronto
Job Type: 12-month contract, hybrid – 2 days onsite
Hiring for an IT Network/Telecom Architect to lead and promote the enterprise and solution architecture process within the organization including the creation of governing principles, policies, standards and procedures to guide solution decision-making for the organization, and to lead the development of an implementation plan for the Enterprise Architecture program for Telecom/Network, Data Centre and IP Telephony.
Responsibilities:
– Revise and update IT foundational technology strategy and system plans, including conducting technical research, trending analysis, specifications and the creation of white papers
– Update, maintain and enforce industry leading architectural standards, policies and procedures and gain approval from IT Senior Management/Executives
– Provide technical leadership for solution design architecture to support business cases and problem/incident management
– Lead technical proof of concepts for network and telecom technologies
– Define and lead the strategic roadmap for platforms within the responsible domains
– Manage and audit IT project execution technical governance to ensure technical standards compliance and/or exceptions
– Document design solutions and conduct project training and information sharing sessions
– Participate in support on end-to-end problem resolution and root cause analysis in collaboration with other functional groups, business units and vendors
Qualifications:
– Post-secondary technical degree (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or other relevant professional designations (CCIE, etc.), or a combination of equivalent related training and applicable experience
– Five to ten (5-10) years of experience in IT Telecom/Networking Architecture
– Experience with IT infrastructure architecture/design (networks, cloud). Cisco Software Defined Networking implementation for the Data Center with migration experience is a plus
– Proficiency in designing solutions for enterprise IT environments involving IP Telephony, Cisco Networking, Telecom (DWDM, MPLS, Cellular, RF links, etc.)
– Experience with creation of architectural standards, policies and procedures for Telecom Networking, Data Center, Campus Network and Voice
– Experience with planning and execution of system implementations for both operational initiatives and strategic projects related to Network, Telecom, Data Center and Voice
– Knowledge of Incident and Problem Management, Technical Governance structures, ITIL and SDLC Frameworks
