About the role
Locations: Toronto (700 University)
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Manager, Finance, your work will have a big impact in creating synergies with Intact Financial Corporation acquisitions and participation in the IFRS-17 program. The Financial Operations function provides guidance on Financial Operational projects while functioning as the liaison between various internal and external stakeholders.
As a member of the Financial Operational management team, the successful candidate leads the team on all aspects of treasury operations, risk management and financial analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing banking and merchant relationships, and transformation to support our financial objectives. Being autonomous with effective communication and organizational skills are essential to this role. You will supervise, coach and mentor staff.
What you’ll do here:
- Liaise with other functions (Accounts Receivable, Claims, Tax, Legal, etc.) to support their day-to-day operations and transformation efforts.
- Responsible for the review of journal entries, reconciliations, and various control governance activities.
- Ensure processes are documented and optimized within the department and that proper controls are in place.
- Lead bank performance assessments and bank fee analyses.
- Oversee changes in banking activity, bank account structures, including opening and closing of accounts.
- Oversee the on-going use and maintenance of users on the various bank platforms with periodic monthly reviews.
- Identify improvement opportunities using new banking, merchant products & services and technologies.
- Approve electronic payments. Ensure proper controls in place to adequately address relevant risks.
- Support various internal and external audits, business continuity plan updates and the unclaimed property program.
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions, merchant service, external and internal auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a CPA/CA designation.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading a team.
- Strong knowledge of best practices for cash management.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and handle ambiguity.
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Knowledge of Oracle would be an asset.
