About the role
Our growing team is looking for a Manager, Finance & Group Reinsurance!
Our candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing group reinsurance activities while ensuring robust internal controls, driving financial analysis and supporting key stakeholders.
In addition, our candidate will play an active role in the transformation of the reinsurance function while working on a project roadmap to support alignment of our different reinsurance groups.
You will participate in Group Reinsurance financial projects & reporting. More specifically, you will:
- Provide oversight and recommendations to improve the reinsurance function in different regions, but mainly to ensure consistency and alignment on reinsurance practices.
- As key stakeholder, actively participate in and influence several strategic projects/initiatives impacting reinsurance from both a systems and process perspective, such as IT system implementations, process enhancements and acquisition integrations.
- Lead activities in the group reinsurance function including compliance report for the group reinsurance operation & control committee.
- Drive processes and projects to increase the efficiency and availability of Group reinsurance data for analysis and monthly reporting.
- Help support the consolidation process during the closure period for issues related to Group Reinsurance, and participate in and influence the outcome of special projects impacting intercompany reinsurance workstream.
- Participate in the application and standardization of new accounting standards.
- Maintain, document, recommend and improve processes to keep a robust control environment.
- Support external and internal auditors, as well as risk and compliance functions for activities under your responsibility.
- Support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement disclosure.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
- CPA designation (Certified Public Accountant).
- Experience with insurance company on reporting and/or projects.
- Understanding of reinsurance accounting/contracts, a strong asset.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills; Bilingualism (French / English) – Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Leadership skills, team player, independent and efficient.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to persuade, influence and motivate people from a wide variety of functional backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
