What you’ll be doing…
Our Director of Finance is looking for someone to bring a deep knowledge of Finance best practices and new technologies in accounting, budgeting and forecasting and related processes to design our Finance transformation and modernization strategy. This person will assess stakeholder impacts and organizational readiness through recommendations while supporting implementation through effective communication, training, and other change management solutions.
In addition, this position will coordinate and drive forward various finance transformation initiatives as a coordinated centre of excellence for the Finance Division.
What you’ll bring to the table…
We love lifelong Learners and recommend the following mix of education or certifications to be successful in conjunction with relevant experience:
- Certified Professional Accounting designation
- Post secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Project Management, Business Administration or related discipline
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent training is an asset
- Lean Six Sigma certifications are an asset
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Seven years in a related field with recent progressive change management, combined with at least five years’ experience leading and managing projects and/or a Finance Team
- At least five years experience working on Enterprise Resource Programs (ERP) and other transformation project planning and implementations
- Experience working with ERP and/or financial reporting software in a technical capacity, modifying reports, building or making upgrades.
- Proven experience with external financial reporting, internal controls compliance, sound fiscal management and computerized financial systems in a mid to large size organization
- Sound knowledge of Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards, practices, and reporting
- In-depth knowledge and experience with lean processes and change management
- In-depth leadership experience in change management
- Demonstrated ability to analyze business, financial, technical and legal issues and develop solutions
- Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent business and political acumen
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Preference will be given to candidates with the following additional experience and expertise:
- Experience with JD Edwards (ERP) and/or Hubble (financial reporting) software
- Demonstrated success in leading and implementing solutions focused on enhancing customer and stakeholder satisfaction
- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller or other related financial reporting or Financial Systems Management role in a complex, public sector organization with an understanding of public sector accounting
- Ongoing commitment to learning leading finance innovation practices as demonstrated by a history of training, experience and/or research in this area
