Department Overview

The Marketing Finance team is part of TD Bank’s Corporate Segment Finance group and is responsible for providing financial support to Marketing to help them fulfill their mandate and strategic needs. The Marketing Finance team is a key partner in various change initiatives within these groups.

The Marketing Finance team provides support through:

• Performance Measurement & Analysis
• Strategic advice, including long-term expense management
• Planning & forecasting
• New initiatives / projects
• Value added analysis and advice to business partners

Job Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in business or relevant professional designation (CPA preferred)
• 4-5 years of experience as a Finance / Senior Finance Analyst in a business or banking environment
• Previous experience in planning, forecasting, expense management and financial analysis considered an asset
• Experience using financial reporting systems (e.g., Hyperion EMRS, OBIEE, CDA and CCoA G/L structure, expense category codes) considered an asset
• Proficient in MS Excel
• Strong business acumen and analytical capabilities
• Proven track record and experience in leading Continuous Improvement or Process Improvement projects and initiatives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Experience supporting Marketing in other large organizations considered an asset
• Proactive self-starter with abilities to work both independently and with a team

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, the successful candidate will support monthly and quarterly reporting for Marketing including assisting with ad hoc deliverables asks when required. The role involves interactions with key Marketing contacts in Canada and the U.S. to enhance financial and management reporting and optimize spend across their businesses to drive greater shareholder return. This position provides exposure to a diverse group of business partners from across the TD organization including (but not limited) to those in Canadian Retail, U.S. Retail, Wholesale, Wealth, Insurance, etc. as well as senior executives.

Key responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the day-to day operations of the team in providing financial planning, reporting and forecasting including:

• Monthly reporting and analysis of expenses – monitoring financial performance, provide understanding of spend to business partners and investigate significant variances against prior periods, budget and forecast expectations
• Perform month-end accounting and financial processes on a North American basis including review of journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
• Provide evaluation of internal projects and reporting to key stakeholders within Finance and Marketing
• Oversee and review segment allocation of costs for each line of business and develop a communication model to keep stakeholders informed of monthly, quarterly variances
• Maintain key controls and governance in line with the Bank’s approval guidelines
• Process and validate affiliate transaction reporting requirements
• Build quarterly forecasts and annual Plan with inputs from business partners and other finance teams
• Other ad hoc requests
