Job description: Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has partnered with IOOF Seniors Home to move select Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patients, who no longer require the level of acute care provided in a hospital setting, to the newly-opened IOOF Short Term Transitional Care Unit. The successful candidate will be hired into the Float Pool and will be assigned to the IOOF, a short term unit temporarily, and will return to the Float Pool once deemed appropriate (i.e. closure of the unit).
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will assist with the provision of patient care and the efficient operation of the unit/area under the direction of a health care professional.
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:
- Completed a recognized program for personal support worker
- Current Basic Rescuer Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life support or willingness to obtain within three (3) months of hiring
- Member of the Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) and/or Personal Support Network of Ontario (PSNO) an asset
- Previous patient care experience in health care environment or health related community work, preferred
