Job description: Westridge HR, on behalf of our Niagara Falls based client, is searching for a Senior Accounting Manager with hotel industry experience.
Our client is a prominent hotel and resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The multi-generational family run establishment is a leading property in Niagara Falls and continues to pursue new business developments. Reporting directly to Ownership, the Senior Account Manager will act as a trusted business adviser, overseeing all accounting department operations and giving leadership to financial management of the organization’s three companies.

As the Senior Accounting Manager you will:
- Participate as part of the senior leadership team to advise, strategize, and implement finance best practices for the betterment of the organization;
- Provide Ownership with detailed forecasting and budgeting proposals for the hotel and subsidiary companies;
- Take an active role in improving financial controls, developing, and implementing standardized budgetary process, accounting procedures, and internal control procedures;
- Prepare budgets by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and giving recommendations for cost saving measures and revenue growth;
- Supervise the daily activities of the accounting department; train and develop the accounting team consisting of a payroll assistant and a revenue auditor;
- Monthly bank reconciliations and balancing of departments, inputting into Sage Simply Accounting
- Manage the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions;
- Organize and lead monthly hotel inventory for food, beverage, and linen etc.;
- Manage year-end financial audit activities, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting documentation; and
- Remain current and seek to grow professional knowledge through personal growth and development.
The Ideal Candidate possesses:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or a related field; CPA designation preferred;
- Accounting management experience; at least 3-5 years in a finance management role;
- Hospitality industry related experience preferred;
- Strong working knowledge of Excel; experience with Sage preferred;
- Ability to establish collaborative relationships with all levels of management and support staff; and
- Independent and results oriented, able to manage conflicting priorities and handle a schedule driven high volume workload.
