NOVONIX is a developer and supplier of high-performance materials, and technologies for the global lithium-ion battery industry with operations in the USA and Canada. NOVONIX is comprised of two businesses: NOVONIX Battery Technology Solutions (BTS) based in Halifax and PUREgraphite (NOVONIX Anode Materials) based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. NOVONIX BTS spun out of Dr. Jeff Dahn’s lab at Dalhousie University, provides the most accurate battery cell testing in the world. Their equipment and cell testing services are used by leading battery makers, researchers and equipment manufacturers including Panasonic, CATL, LG Chem, Samsung SDI, SK Innovation, XALT Energy, K2 Energy, Bosch, Dyson, Dalhousie University, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, and Helmholtz Institute. NOVONIX BTS offers an array of services including: materials development and evaluation, cell design, cell testing, and electrolyte analysis.

We are pleased to be partnered with them to bring an experienced Senior Accounting Manager to their talented and innovative team. This will be a remote role based in Halifax, NS.

Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will support teams and operations in Canada and US. As a member of the finance team, the Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and finance functions in the business. This is a unique role requiring the successful candidate to exercise both depth and breadth of accounting skills, the ability to analyze and understand data to support KPI creation and business decisions, and excel at process improvement as the company meets its growth objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversee day to day accounting operations including AR, AP, inventory, fixed assets, GL accounting, financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting
• Coordinate and oversee the final reporting of the monthly close process
• Support preparation of annual and quarterly reporting and coordinate with departments as needed
• Support the audit through preparation of planning, interim and final schedules for external auditors
• Support the financial leadership in data integrity projects, working with multiple departments to understand reporting requirements and create such required reports
• Manage and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reporting procedures, including automation and centralization
• Lead and participate in projects on an as-needed basis (software implementations, integrated reporting, AP automation, etc.)
• Other related duties as required

The ideal candidate will have:

• Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA)
• Understanding of IFRS preferred
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices and reporting procedures
• Demonstrated ability to reconcile and analyze financial and non-financial data
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data visualization tools
• Action oriented and adaptable to changing requirements
• High attention to detail paired with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
• Strong consensus-building and negotiation skills
• Superior communication skills, as well as the ability to manage expectations of diverse groups of stakeholders
• Enthusiastic, high EQ and flexible
