Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Finance Transformation, this position will be a key member of the WAM Finance Transformation team (WAMFiT) in supporting the transformation of the Global Finance function for Global Wealth and Asset Management (GWAM). The individual is a key member of the WAMFiT team, performing tasks and activities to support the delivery of reporting and self-service initiatives while building positive relationships across the WAM Finance organization and other Manulife partners. The individual will work alongside the WAMFiT Data & Infrastructure team, other WAMFiT workstreams, GWAM Chief Data Office, and WAM Finance stakeholders to implement the required business intelligence and reporting solutions to support the accessible pre-defined reports and ad-hoc analysis to satisfy WAM Finance reporting and analysis requirements.
Wealth & Asset Management (WAM) Overview

Finance Transformation
The Global Finance Transformation initiative is a multi-year, multi workstream transformation of Manulife’s Global Finance Organization – including People, Processes, Systems and Data. Since inception in 2013, this initiative has helped generate efficiencies for our global Finance organization. The WAM Finance in Transformation (“WAMFiT”) seeks to continue delivering on our Global Finance strategy and vision to realize and enable self-service, straight through processing, and automation to a target state and ultimately become a world-class global finance organization. This initiative includes the objective to standardize, simplify, and automate our financial infrastructure and processes for our businesses and achieve the finance vision and target operating model.
Key Accountabilities:
- Contribute to the successful completion of WAM Self-Serve Reporting (SSR) CoE Transformation Initiatives and related WAMFiT process improvements
- Participate in and lead the various phases of reporting / development projects, including analysis, requirements definition, design & build, data conversion, testing and implementation with specific focus on data management and reporting & analysis
- Liaise with Finance users and decision makers, systems owners and end users (through interviews and workshops) to define data and reporting requirements and design solutions that will meet their needs; facilitate implementation of new and/or improved reporting processes
- Document business requirements relating to WAM Finance data, analytical and reporting processes
- Work with Data Management teams to analyze WAM Finance data requirements and model the data design to deliver on business requirements
- Analyze and understand WAM Finance reporting requirements and work with report development teams to translate into technical specifications
- Ensure the quality of the data and reporting solutions by testing that the development results meet the business requirements; help identify and resolve issues/defects that arise
- Query and review large data stores to understand finance and transactional information and business rules that govern the data, including data models
- Act as a subject matter expert for WAM Finance reporting/analytical tools such as PowerBI, Qlikview and Tableau
- Maintain and report challenges, risks, issues, decisions and action items including follow up with teams to ensure timely reply and/or action.
- Consult with team members to understand issues, share experiences, brainstorm solutions and provide support.
- Foster and maintain positive working relationships with GWAM and Global Finance teams across all geographies (Toronto, KW, Montreal, Boston, UK, Hong Kong and other Asia regions/countries), leveraging formal and informal forums to generate and explore SSR improvements and opportunities.

Key Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years in a finance, accounting or reporting/analytics role, ideally with experience on projects, enterprise reporting & dashboards and process improvement
- Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting or Mathematics
- Analytical skills with the ability to design, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amount of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong knowledge of data reporting, aggregation and analysis techniques and query skills
- Attention to detail and innovative thinker with the ability to influence and challenge the status quo to continuously improve processes
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work with financial issues and concepts
- Motivated self-starter, with ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively
- A team player who is able to react positively to changing priorities
- Experience in using Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, PowerBI, Teams) and SharePoint
- Experience with business intelligence / visualization tools e.g. PowerBI, Qlikview and Tableau
- Familiarity or knowledge of agile, project management processes, process improvement methodologies and tools would be a key asset
- SQL Developer experience is a big plus
