University Health Network (UHN) is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Senior Business Analyst (Finance) for the Medical Solutions Division our Altum Finance department. Reporting to the Senior Business Manager, Altum Finance, the SBA will provide finance support to the International Patient Program, Telemonitoring, Infusions and new business lines fueling the growth of Medical Solutions Division. As an integral member of the Corporate Finance team, the responsibilities of the Senior Business Analyst will vary from assignment to assignment including but not limited to:
- Provide detailed department analysis of actual expenditure vs budget / forecast including identifying expense trends and provide an analysis of variances.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly financial packages and dashboards for management to facilitate the decision making and financial reporting process.
- Review and prepare annual operating budget and maintain up-to-date forecasts for assigned portfolios
- Prepares monthly financial month-end journal entries and reconciliations relevant to the assigned portfolio
- Manage monthly special financial results and variance & margin analysis to ensure appropriate controls over project performance in conjunction with the Senior Manager Finance.
- Perform profitability Analysis and report on Accounts receivable by portfolio / program/ patient.
- Create appropriate templates to help IPP Coordinators and Managers to seamlessly obtain appropriate signoffs thus enforcing robust internal controls.
- Acts as a Liaison between CBARR and Medical Solutions Operations for AR tracking and collection.
- Create Pricing templates and algorithm for new procedures for IPP, maintain and update pricing tables in EPIC / Synapse while creating a robust sign off process at Executive level.
- Prepare financial analysis for funding proposals to MOH/OH and be responsible for accurate and timely reporting to funders.
- Working with business area managers and directors to prepare a preliminary assessment of risks & opportunities in business portfolio on a monthly basis.
- Prepare formal written and oral presentations to internal and external decision makers
- Assist with audits, perform in-depth written analysis
- Identify accounting issues, process issues and make solid recommendations
- Lead, actively participate and contribute in interdisciplinary meetings with different client groups
- Performs cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested, including providing training and back-up support for other financial analysts as required
Qualifications:
- University Degree and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- 5 years’ experience in large complex accounting or auditing environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles, practices and procedures required
- Computer software proficiency in SAP, EPIC, Advanced Excel and Power BI, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and attention to detail with the ability to identify trends, and provide business recommendations
- Experience in a healthcare environment preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize work
- Excellent verbal and communication skills
- Ability to take initiative and embrace challenges
- Excellent customer services skills required
- Adheres to confidentiality policy for sensitive financial data and information and is able to adhere to UHN policies and procedures
- Ability to work accurately under time constraints required
- Experience with process improvement
- Experience with accounting for employee benefits is beneficial
