Job title: Senior Director Finance
Job description: Our client, a national charity that brings together the Canadian Jewish Federations and communities to maximize the collective impact in Israel and on the global Jewish philanthropy and agenda is sourcing a Senior Director, Finance to join their Toronto team.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the Senior Director, Finance will be responsible for all finance, budgets and cash management for the organization.
As part of the senior leadership team, the Senior Director, Finance will be an effective leader and demonstrate a mindset for continuous improvement and innovation. With exceptional strategic and critical thinking skills, the Senior Finance Director will be an enthusiastic and tactful leader who is passionate about improving processes and ensuring the smooth and effective financial operations of the organization.
Responsibilities
Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.
Prepare year-end financial information including preparing and presenting the annual budget and financial statements, liaising with Treasurer, Board Chair, CEO and participating in board meetings.
Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization, which includes a team of 6 employees across two offices Toronto and Israel.
Evaluate and advise on processes, introduction of technologies, strategies and regulatory action.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior management to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
Preparation of a variety of schedules and working papers for the annual audit, preparation and filing of annual returns and U.S. tax filing.
Provide timely accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, processes for financial forecasting, and consolidation and reporting to the organization.
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, ensure compliance with CRA and applicable regulatory laws, rules for financial, and tax reporting.
Manage and oversee the accounting, cheque preparation and variance reports and organizations that fall within the prevue.
Manage and assist donations and funding relationships with various donors and organizations locally and overseas with the ability to work with three currencies
Qualifications
Degree in commerce or business administration with a CPA designation.
7 years of post-designation experience including budgeting and financial management in a business, public or not-for-profit organization.
Leader of people who has demonstrated the ability to work with boards and committees, acting as the liaison with external parties including banking, audit and investors.
Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills, high level of integrity and professionalism, superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
Experience using budgeting software and innovative modern relevant technologies
knowledge of charity law and charitable giving and relevant designations in risk management are an asset.
