VICE PRESIDENT, ACADEMIC

We’re searching for someone who can find ways forward, leading from where they are in the business administration, communications management, and project management for the office of the Vice President, Academic.

Reporting to the Vice President, Academic, the Senior Executive Associate researches and provides background information and advice on organizational matters and issues and initiates written and verbal communications for the Vice President. These communications include the preparation of briefing notes, speaking notes, reports, and other portfolio communications. Playing a key role in the Division, the Senior Executive Associate builds and sustains internal relationships with senior management leaders within the portfolio and across the college.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop, implement, and improve overall business practices and procedures within the Office of the Vice President.
  • Establish and implement processes, tools, and supporting documentation for all items requiring Vice President approval.
  • Initiate written communications and reports to external and internal contacts, ensuring accuracy of information and a tone which reflects the Vice President’s position on the issue(s).
  • Write all speeches delivered by the Vice President, coordinating with the communications department when appropriate.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor a communications plan for the Office of the Vice President.
  • Liaise and maintain broad communication links with all levels of staff on a wide variety of issues that affect operations.
  • Effectively manage pertinent information, issues, or problems, following up on issues and actions on behalf of the Vice President.
  • Review and analyze reports, studies, and position papers and prepare briefing reports and recommendations for the Vice President.
  • Consult with other senior managers to ensure accurate and complete information is available for decision making.
  • Keep the Vice President informed of problem areas or emerging trends, including briefings on any issues, concerns, matters, and meetings.
  • Create, manage, monitor, and reconcile the budget for the Office of the Vice President, ensuring accurate processing of expenditures including preparation and payment of expense claims.
  • Review the portfolio financials on a monthly basis, bringing to the attention of the Vice President any irregularities.
  • Manage special projects arising within the Office of the Vice President.
  • Lead the Office of the Vice President’s administrative support team by engaging them in meaningful work, ensuring high quality standards are met or exceeded, providing advice on conflicting priorities, and mentorship for growth and development.
  • Lead the planning and execution of events and retreats.
  • Resolve issues of mutual concern with the President’s Office.
  • Support the Chair of Deans’ Council, ensuring there is alignment between the work of the Vice President and the work of Deans’ Council.
  • Coordinate reports and information regarding the divisional operational plans, risk, and finances.
  • Create and coordinate portfolio information for the annual report, college business plan, contribution agreements, and board meetings.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor Degree a related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a business administrator including business planning, project management, and general administration, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

SALARY: $77,122 – $96,373 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
