They operate bulk furnace oil and propane outlets across Atlantic Canada, New England and Quebec as well as select locations in eastern Ontario, almost all of which is supplied from their refinery in NB. Now, they are currently seeking an experienced Senior Manager Corporate Finance Standards and Accounting to join the team. They are looking for you! About the Position: As the new Senior Manager Corporate Finance Standards and Accounting, you’ll lead the team with minimal oversight from your manager. You’ll transition the financial statement preparation process and provide guidance to the accounting team on a variety of complex issues. You’ll oversee corporate external financial reporting, accounting, and internal controls. This includes providing leadership and guidance for all accounting and financial reporting related matters, oversight over the internal controls over financial reporting and ownership of accounting policies. The role ensures timely, accurate and complete financial reporting to the various stakeholders. Your financial leadership will help our client achieve their mission to use business as a force for good. And as a leader, you’ll guide a supportive, collaborative team made up of individuals who are dedicated to learning and continuous improvement. Your scope of responsibility will include owning the accounting policies, guidance on financial reporting, and internal audit meetings. Practically speaking, here are some things you’ll do: * Ensure timely, accurate and complete external financial reporting to the various stakeholders (Senior Leadership Team, Board, Shareholders and Lenders) This includes performing quality control review over the various IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) compliant quarterly and annual statutory financial statements and Director’s reports per committed timelines. * Oversee the corporate accounting, and close consolidate and report function such that they produce quality, accurate and complete financial results. * Enhance the control environment by leading the ICFR (Internal Control over Financial Reporting) team through the quarterly testing of over 200 controls across the company, review of results and reporting provided to the Senior Leadership team, Directors, and other stakeholders of the financial statements by providing reasonable assurance over the accuracy and completeness of the external financial statements. * Oversee the management of the external audit and review process in accordance with established timelines for each quarter and year end for above noted sets of financial statements. * Ensure audit issues are resolved in a timely manner. * Ensure the preparation of the quarterly unusual transactions & audit issues lists and provide collaborative advisory on complex accounting issues when they arise. This includes ensuring accurate and complete research is conducted, material is developed, and review of position papers and memos. * Monitor developments in IFRS, assessing their implications and, where appropriate, communicating these developments through direct consultation with impacted parties, formal presentations or written technical updates. * Oversee the annual finance policy update process in accordance with the timing commitments from policy owners and identify and initiate the development of new policies as required. * Provide thought leadership on various projects with respect to complex accounting arrangements through research and collaboration on IFRS. * Provide training and mentorship to direct reports, their teams and cross functional Accounting and FP&A teams.
