Horizon Recruitment has been engaged to identify an Senior Manager, Finance for an impressive local Vancouver biotechnology success story. This position will oversee all daily accounting and financial operations, while providing financial information to support strategic decisions. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance & Operations the Senior Manager will play a key role in designing, developing, and leading the overall financial activities of the company. Responsibilities:
- Manage the full cycle general accounting responsibilities including, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Revenue and Taxes.
- Lead the consolidated general ledger activities, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage the month end close, ensuring transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles and preparing month end financials for Executive Team
- Support the year end audit, preparing and providing audit related information
- Manage the corporate income tax filings and SR&ED claim processes
- Assessing and, where necessary, implementing international income tax and tax compliance processes
- Maintain and reconcile deferred revenue, deferred cost reports and spreadsheets
- Collaborating with Senior Director of Finance and Operations to establish internal control processes
- Design and deliver consolidated management reporting packages and key performance metrics
- Proactively manage cash flows and communicate capital requirements to management
- Drive the annual budget process and the monthly reporting
- Effectively manage banking and financial advisor relationships
- Undertake investment decisions aligned to the investment policy of the Board
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of forecast / budget templates
- Support implementation of technological advances to improve reporting
- WorkSafe, WCB, GST, and EHT reporting.
Requirements:
- A professional accounting designation and qualifications (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) along with at least 5 years of senior leadership experience
- Hands-on business partner with the ability to think big-picture, and a demonstrated track-record of success in a similar role
- Strong business process and business strategy experience coupled with experience in a high growth business.
- Leadership mentality with the drive to grow, adapt and execute bold plans
- An open and articulate communicator with strong analysis, presentation and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work cross-functionally throughout the organization
- Proven strategic thinking ability to apply a “bottom line”, results-oriented approach
- Excellent analytical skills, and applies a creative approach to problem solving
