Vice- Principal / Special Education Teacher
for the 2023/2024 School Year
Summary:
Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a Vice-Principal/Special Education Teacher for Obishikokaang Elementary School. Under the direction of the Principal, the Vice-Principal will assist in overseeing the administration and delivery of educational services at the Obishikokaang Elementary School. The Vice-Principal must establish and maintain positive working relations with all internal and external stakeholders. The Vice-Principal’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership to Obishikokaang Elementary School (Frenchman’s Head) and must work cooperatively with Waninitawingaang Memorial School (Kejick Bay) and the Morris Thomas Memorial Christian School (Whitefish Bay).
Qualifications:
● Bachelor of Education and Principal Qualifications (PQP Part 1 and 2), or ability and willingness to begin taking the Ontario Principals Qualifications courses on accepting the position.
● Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
● Special Education Specialist AQ would be considered an asset.
● Previous experience in a leadership role within a school setting would be considered an asset.
● Strong public relations, interpersonal, planning, organizational and strong leadership skills.
● Strong commitment to creating trauma-informed, inclusive education opportunities for all students.
● Strong commitment to the goals and vision of the Lac Seul Education Authority.
● Knowledge of federally regulated school operations.
● Knowledge and sensitivity of First Nations traditions and culture.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License.
SALARY: Depending on qualifications and experience (Starting at $110,20)
TERM: Full-time
HOURS: 35 hours per week
LOCATION: Lac Seul, Ontario
