Located in the beautiful Cowichan Valley, Cowichan Bay Waterworks District is an Improvement District incorporated under the “Water Act, 1939” and is governed by a 1946 Letters Patent, the Local Government Act and Community Charter. The District is committed to providing clean, safe water for all residents.

If you are a financial expert looking for a lifestyle change, this permanent part time position will be for you. Cowichan Bay is located in the Cowichan Valley between Victoria and Nanaimo on southern Vancouver Island. The area abounds with outdoor recreation opportunities and is an official VQA wine producing region with cultural pursuits including live theatre, art galleries and museums.

Due to the retirement of the incumbent, a vacancy exists for a Finance Officer. Working as part of a small team, the Finance Officer is responsible for accounting, bookkeeping, payroll and administrative support. The District serves approximately 3000 residents and has approximately 800 connections. The office is in the heart of the village community, overlooking the bay towards Mt. Tzouhalem and Salt Spring Island. The community of Cowichan Bay is an agricultural area with a boat and kayak launch in the bay, kilometres of walking trails, delicious restaurants, a one of a kind bakery, boutique retail stores, unique float homes and the Cowichan Bay Maritime Centre [a community-based maritime museum operated by the Cowichan Wooden Boat Society].

Office hours are between 9 am and 4 pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each work. The position works 16 – 24 hours per week. The District provides a benefit package and an RRSP plan.
