Position Title: Specialist Payroll
Position Type: Temporary – Part-Time

McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking to fill the role of Payroll Specialist, reporting directly to the Payroll Manager.
Opportunity
This position is responsible for processing bi-weekly payrolls for employees of McCain, this would include new hires, promotions, changes, terminations, etc. They would also be responsible for processing ROEs, T4s, RL1s. Train on other payrolls (Hourly and Salary) to be the backup for vacation relief etc.
Key Objectives
- Work in compliance with government legislation and company policies
- Working closely with Manager, Payroll and EEC Team, to document and streamline all payroll procedures
- Playing a key role in implementing process improvements and improving efficiencies
- As a member of the Payroll Team, process accurate, timely payroll
- Manage the payroll paper/email flow to ensure appropriate controls and back up documentation exists.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, courteous manner
- Prepare timely reports for Finance and month-end Vendors
- Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely manner
- Prepare and issue remittances and final paperwork for terminating employees
- Strong knowledge of year end procedures
- Reconcile and issue T4/RL1 forms and summaries and other relevant documents Other projects and duties as may be assigned
- To Be Successful, you will have; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 to 5 years hands-on payroll experience. Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation as it relates to payroll. Excellent Communication skills (both verbal & written) Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A proven ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively using effective time management and organizational skills.
A willingness to take initiative to lead a demonstrate background in process improvements. Functions well under pressure in a time sensitive environment and a team player with a keen desire to learn and grow in the role. Familiar with UKG Pro and SAP, and are enrolled in and/or completed the PCP or CPM certification a plus.
