Position Summary
The Accounting and Controls Manager is responsible for managing all external and internal audits, risk management procedures as well as managing the internal control system as the Local Internal Control Systems (ICS) Officer. The position will work with other finance and support department heads and reports directly to the Director of Controlling and FP&A. You will work hand in hand with our Consolidated Back Office (CBO) and become an expert on how the business functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and co-ordinate all external and internal audits, including financial and 401k audits
- Follow up and close out of all action plans related to any reported audit findings
- Manage, test and report on the Internal Control System (ICS)
- Responsible for training and guiding all ICS process and control owners
- Supervise our compliance with internal controls
- Co-ordinate and report on the risk assessments for the Division on a quarterly basis
- Co-ordinate and report on all sustainability reports for the Division
- Manage the reporting on all cost savings and margin improvement measures
- Assist with technical accounting topics, the creation and updating of accounting policies, and various finance projects
- Assists other accounting functions where needed
- Identifies and solves problems; makes sound judgments
- Deals tactfully and effectively with employees and other department managers
- Assists management with ad-hoc requests, including special projects and initiatives
- Observes and complies with all safety rules
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
- 5 years of relevant experience from public accounting and/or large public company
- Demonstrating experience of financial and internal control processes
- Willingness to work the hours needed to complete and deliver tasks on committed deadline dates
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to provide quality work in a timely manner
- Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills required
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work individually and in a team
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of SAP, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
- IFRS and GAAP financial reporting
