About the role:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the leadership of staff members to meet the company’s expectations for goal achievement. This is a management position that requires the person to perform complex accounting and financial analysis functions. This job requires subject matter expertise in the most complex accounting topics; knowledge of accounting principles as well as significant and directly related experience. Knowledge is applied to technical subject matter. The role has considerable impact and consequences involving highly specialized and/or technical areas requiring application and interpretation of data, procedures, and policy. At a high level, this role requires the person to be responsible for the collection, reporting and analysis of financial data. Overall responsibility for coordinating external audit and tax and responding to ad hoc requests. A large portion of this role requires performing non-routine tasks as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
What you’ll do…
- Leadership, Coaching & Development: Responsible for managing and monitoring the activities of the direct reports and delegating tasks, negotiating workloads, assessing performance and reporting on developments. Provide mentoring and leadership to the team. Carry out performance reviews. Conduct regular coaching of team members to support achievement of personal and company goals. Through these sessions, opportunities for improvement will be identified and action will take place through individualized development plans.
- Financial Statements and Reports: Coordinates with internal business teams in the preparation, implementation, and compliance of management reporting & analysis requirements. Analyzes and audits data to detect, and correct errors. Produces monthly results report and provides financial decision support to help drive the company’s operating performance. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end internal and external financial reporting and note disclosures in compliance with US GAAP. Drives enhancements in financial reporting and analysis as well as system requirements.
- Tax & Audit: Leads the quarterly review process and year end audit. Responsible for successful audit with the external auditors. Review of all supporting schedules and working papers to meet audit requirements. Consults and liaises with other departments.
- Tax Knowledge of corporate income and capital taxes; Conducts and documents any tax research. On a quarterly basis, calculates the tax provision. Overall responsibility for compiling necessary information for the completion of the annual corporate tax return.
- Budget/Forecast: Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual budget, the forecasts, and the analysis & reporting against monthly operating results. Analyses financial information and provides direction and support to each dept; Reviews budget estimates and ensures they are reasonable and adequate. Coordinates and documents activities and issues and provides supporting materials for requested actions; Ensures timely and successful completion of budget tasks. Creates budget templates to be used by each dept and roll up to consolidate all the data. Responsible for developing and refining budget related processes each quarter/year.
- Fixed Assets / Intangible Assets: Directs team to ensure that the capitalization policies and process are met. The process for capitalization must be sound, thorough, and accurate and meet required audit standards. Process must be in place to work smoothly with the IT areas to capture information promptly and completely.
- Ad hoc: Provides information and technical support in the development and revision of policies and procedures; Maintains ongoing communication with internal and external clients regarding financial matters; Reviews contracts for adherence to policies; Prepares complex financial reports/data, as requested by senior management, and communicates findings effectively; Interprets and explains complex accounting rules and principles; Reviews and verifies financial metrics/information sent to the Board.

Must have Experience…
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Finance & Accounting
- Prior experience with Big 4 Firm
- Accounting designation (CPA-CA)
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Experience with ERP systems, Great Plains
