What’s the role?
Reporting to the Supervisor, Billing and Finance, the Accounting Technician is responsible for all billing and finance tasks related to their assigned client portfolio. The incumbent is expected to gain a thorough understanding of the in-house billing system used to produce client billings and collaborate with other departments to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of billings. In addition, the role is also responsible for various month-end accounting entries and reconciliations.
More specifically, the Accounting Technician is responsible for the following:
- Perform daily operations relating to accounts receivable, including preparing customer invoices, following up for timely collection, and maintaining aging of accounts at acceptable levels.
- Analyze customer accounts, identify, address and correct issues attributing to account delinquencies.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of the processes related to their assigned client portfolio.
- Prepare various financial reports and analysis including third party administration summaries reconciling premiums billed and collected on behalf of insurance carriers, health care spending account summaries and self-insured benefit plan reconciliations.
- Assist in the generation and issuance of payroll export files, the review of payroll reconciliation files and the reconciliation of accounts.
- Process cash receipts and payments; and
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, journal entries and working papers.
What does it take?
- Two or more years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and accounting software
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
- Comfortable dealing with customers and company personnel at various levels
- Bilingual in French and English, a very strong asset
- This position is subject to appropriate background checks that may include, credential, employment, credit, criminal and reference checks
