The position of Analyst, Finance is an exceptional opportunity to become a member of the Granville Island finance team. In this role, you will provide financial and business advice within the finance team, and as well support to internal and corporate departments that will enable continuing development of various projects on Granville Island.

Please note this is a temporary, full-time position of 18 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and year-end reconciliations, reports and notes to assist with internal reporting, and year-end audit.
  • Supports the Senior Financial Analyst in completing monthly and yearly tasks related to the annual Common Area Reconciliation.
  • Reviews the analysis of actual financial results against prior periods, purchase orders, and as well as Granville Island budget/5-Year Plan to assist in the preparation of variance and performance analysis.
  • Assists the Senior Financial Analyst and Controller in developing the annual budget, and 5-Year plan. This would include developing projections and analysis for revenues such as rents, recoveries, and expenditures related to maintenance, and capital projects
  • Supports the Senior Financial Analyst and Controller/Manager of Business Controls in complying with the external audit, including the timely provision of reports, explanations, data and related information, as required, to external auditors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field such as accounting, finance or business administration plus a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience in finance-related positions with increasing responsibilities. OR
  • College diploma in a related field such as accounting, finance or business administration plus a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in finance-related positions with increasing responsibilities.
  • CPA Designation is an asset.
  • Demonstrated work experience in technical accounting as well as leading and/or participating in cross functional project teams.
  • Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage several ongoing and competing projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and well-developed written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with an ability to work in a high-stress work and multi-demand environment.
