What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting into the Director, Treasury GPO (Global Process Owner), the Analyst, GPO assists the Director, GPO and is a point of contact to the business and infrastructure partners on strategic projects, initiatives and adhoc requests. Provides both analytical and initiative support and delivery to Capital Markets, Treasury and other strategic business partners.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Strategic and New Initiatives – Responsible for carrying out daily, monthly and ad hoc responsibilities assigned by Director, GPO for Finance input and feedback on NIRAs, NIAPs and CIBC policies. You will act as a point of contact for the business providing high quality, consistent and timely business insight and advice in order to drive transparency, accountability and resolution to Director GPO. Act as liaison point between other infrastructure areas on reporting processes as it relates to new initiatives and products. Provide SME, BA Support, ensuring both internal projects and CIBC wide projects are executed upon as required. Continually review procedures/processes to enhance controls and assess improvements in productivity using technology delivery tools. Ensure all processes are followed, maintained and revised when necessary.
  • Analytics – Actively participate in Finance Shared Services team and the analytics that they produce. Review daily results as assigned and advise Director, GPO. Understand the relationship between the numbers being reported as part of the DFE and resultant accounting and balance sheets that are attested to. Utilize accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution. Leverage previous analysis and market knowledge to execute new analysis leading to business recommendations. In collaboration with relevant Centres of Excellence (COE), develop solutions to be implemented in the area providing initial production support. Understand and explain information available to improve the effectiveness of data analysis and business initiatives.

Who You Are

  • You have a degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Accounting and/or 5-7 years business related experience.
  • You are a Certified Professional. You have completed the Canadian Securities Course and/or any other relevant courses from the Canadian Securities Institute suite of Programs.
  • You can demonstrate experience in accounting treatment of on and off balance sheet products (accrual vs. mark-to-market) to calculate any manual accounting adjustments, and have a basic knowledge of Financial Instruments Accounting Standards with related knowledge of hedge effectiveness testing and processes. You have an understanding of Capital Markets products – pricing and settlement practices of Bonds, Swap, Options, Futures, and Foreign Exchange and the ability to develop queries using SQL and write VBA code to troubleshoot.
