The Faculty of Business and Information Technology invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track position in at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the field of Finance. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2022, or as soon as it is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Ontario Tech is a technology-enhanced learning environment and the candidate shall be expected to have skills in the integration of technology into teaching and to model those skills in their own teaching in the University’s web-centric and mobile learning environment.

Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate in Finance or a related discipline. The ideal candidate’s research is preferred to be in corporate finance, investments and/or entrepreneurial finance. Candidates with experience in emerging topics such as FinTech and machine learning and programming in financial data analytics are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should possess a strong academic background; and be able to demonstrate excellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer assessed publications. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful applicant will be expected to attract tri-council funding and engage in leading-edge research with colleagues and students. The candidate will teach the Bachelor of Commerce as well as future professional and research based graduate programs in business at Ontario Tech University.

The Faculty of Business and IT has research labs in Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, Networking, Human Machine Interaction, Game Development, Design Thinking, UX Research, Virtual Reality, Health Informatics, Security and Artificial Intelligence. Our Finance lab is equipped with Bloomberg, CRSP, Computstat, WRDS, Capital IQ, Eikon, Datastream, SDC M&A and New Issues, STATA, SAS, and SPSS.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
