Department Overview
The Data and Insights (DAI) group supports various business partners by providing valuable insights about TDI business. The General Insurance Claims Insights team provides a holistic view of claims, investigates emerging trends and communicates results and insights to claims leadership and key partners (Corporate Actuarial, Pricing, Finance, Product, Shared Services, etc.)
As a member of the General Insurance Claims Insights team you will provide business insights, technical expertise, and consultative support to guide decision making and strategic planning – leveraging and interpreting data to provide business specific and broad insights to stakeholders across the organization.
Job Description
You will use your wealth of experience and data and insights knowledge to provide thought leadership and work closely with our claims partners to deliver and communicate insights for a host of projects. Your interpretation of vast, complex data in the form of ongoing, multidimensional insights will
inform the world-class analytical support and meaningful data insights – highlighting opportunities to improve claims outcomes and drive value.
We are looking for someone eager to contribute insights and to lead both analyses and reporting on claims results and trends in partnership with our stakeholders:
- Take ownership of the production of recurrent claims analysis tasks, clearly summarize the results and explain variances.
- Build end-to-end insights solutions over a range of complexity, from the initial demand to the presentation of results or recommendation.
- Leverage visualization to clearly communicate insights and illustrate key trends and concepts.
- Develop and improve analytic tools and methods to support insight generation.
- Serve as an authority on claims results and trends, providing expertise to put analytics discoveries in context.
- Take a holistic view of claims with the ability to speak to both the actuarial and operational aspects.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and communicate solutions pertaining to issues, trends, and opportunities arising from analysis and insights to appropriate teams.
- Provide top-tier specialized knowledge, advice, and mentorship whenever required to various partners and team members.
- Work closely with senior leadership on significant projects and act as a valuable resource and leader to others.
- Assist the senior manager as the primary point of contact with business partners and executive clients, guiding communication and delivery of timely and impactful analyses driven by a deep understanding of claims results and challenges.
- Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork; ensure timely communication of issues/points of interest
- Build and nurture positive working partnerships, constructively influence, and inspire partners where appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, actuarial, or other relevant discipline
- Seven (7) or more of experience of relevant work experience (Analytics, Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis, Business Intelligence, General Insurance Claims, Actuarial, …)
- Exceptional judgement, analytical mind, and demonstrated decision making capabilities
- Fine-tuned, highly developed analytical skills and consistent rigor in quality of work.
- Experienced presenter and persuasive communicator
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Deeply collaborative and passionate team player
- Works efficiently and manage multiple priorities.
- Works openly and transparently in collaboration with business partners.
- Master of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word & VBA.
- Strong programming skills (SQL, Python, R).
- Experience in insurance an asset.
- Knowledge of TDI Data Warehouse an asset.
- Experience with Guidewire Claims Center or similar software an asset.
- Shows initiative and a desire to win.
- Demonstrates TD values.
- Bilingual (English and French) an asset.
