Hours: 37.5 hours bi-weekly

The Billing Clerk is an integral member of the Pharmacy finance team, who is required to perform a range of detailed pharmacy billings, requiring basic accounting knowledge and fundamental applications of accounting theory under the monitoring and direction of Managers, Pharmacy Coordinators, and Pharmacy Technician Supervisors. Key responsibilities include: reconciling daily revenues and receivables, entering daily accounts receivables to the HRCM system; preparing and submitting manual billings to 3rd party insurance plans, special assistance programs, or directly to clients; applying funds received for payment against the receivables and depositing cheques at the cash office; performing analysis on a range of accounts including aging, and reasons for partial or non-payment; preparing and analyzing financial or statistical schedules, statements and reports for distribution to internal clients; liaising with internal and external clients to exchange information and perform follow up work; ensuring that assigned work is completed in an accurate and timely manner; and, keeping informed about current and emerging accounting issues and trends, including technological changes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- At minimum, completion of a program from an accredited program of study or recognized equivalent required; Bachelors Degree preferred
- Relevant combination of education and experience
Experience:
- At minimum, 1 year of practical and related experience
- Experience in a billing environment with exposure to a range of basic accounting principles, practices, and procedures preferred
- Experience working in a pharmacy/healthcare environment preferred
- Retail pharmacy experience an asset
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience an asset
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

- Good telephone, interpersonal and customer service skills required
- Good organizational and time management skills required
- Ability to work independently required
- Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations required
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
