Job description: As the Director, Finance Capital Formation & Deputy CFO, TSX Trust, you will earn a seat at the table to influence the decisions that will lead overall business growth and performance for the Capital Formation and TSX Trust businesses. You have had previous managerial responsibilities supporting tactical execution in finance, such as modelling, budgeting & forecasting, accounting & reporting and/or project & pricing analysis. In addition, you will have had previous experience working in an OSFI regulated financial institution including preparing annual ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment) and oversight of the regulatory capital ratios. You are ready to act strategically to influence and to drive larger-scale change for the TSX Trust business area for TMX. This individual also serves as the link between the BU and the corporate finance group to ensure that the BU financial concerns are addressed.
Job Description
Reporting to the VP, Finance & Corporate Development this individual is an integral part of the Business Unit (BU) senior leadership team he/she serves and is responsible to plan, direct and organize all planning, accounting, and reporting functions as well as providing input on strategy, long-term vision, and project governance.
As the Director, Finance Capital Formation & Deputy CFO, TSX Trust, you will earn a seat at the table to influence the decisions that will lead overall business growth and performance for the Capital Formation and TSX Trust businesses. You have had previous managerial responsibilities supporting tactical execution in finance, such as modelling, budgeting & forecasting, accounting & reporting and/or project & pricing analysis. You are ready to act strategically to influence and to drive larger-scale change for the TSX Trust business area for TMX. This individual also serves as the link between the BU and the corporate finance group to ensure that the BU financial concerns are addressed.
This role will have direct visibility and contact with the TSX Trust board and the chair of the Audit and Risk Committee. Upon taking on this role, a development plan will be created to prepare this individual to be a candidate to take on the CFO responsibilities within 18-months of having this role.
Key Accountabilities
Business Unit Support
- Provide finance support, guidance and recommendations as a key member of the Capital Formation & TSX Trust leadership team including full P&L and balance sheet variance analysis, management reporting, budgeting/forecasting of supported business unit(s), projects analysis, product costing, and pricing reviews for the business unit
- Recommendation of process improvements and identification of cost savings opportunities/efficiencies
- Decision support & analysis: lead business case development and initiative modeling/tracking
- Be a finance lead of the BU to address and tackle issues related to regulatory requirements
- Be part of various committees and workgroups to support day-to-day operations, projects and initiatives
OSFI reporting and oversight
- Ownership of the financial aspects and submissions of the various reporting requirements to OSFI
- Working with the Chief Risk Officer, ensure that all key risks are identified, assessed, measured, managed, monitored and reported in the context of the ICAAP.
- Preparation of annual ICAAP and oversight of regulatory capital ratios for TSX Trust
Board Reporting
- Support the CFO in presenting financial results to the TSX Trust audit committee and board of directors on a quarterly basis;
Annual Planning and Forecasting
- Lead the consolidated budgeting and forecasting deliverables for the business unit and where applicable legal entities, including the development and communication of itemized timelines to the team
- Support Corporate EFPM department in preparation of presentation materials and target setting
- Support financial modeling for strategic planning process
Accounting
- Ensuring all financial information that populates the BU financial statements are accurate and complete including month-end and quarter-end analysis
- Working with all finance functions to ensure accounting treatment of transactions is accurate and complete in the general ledger. For complex accounting issues, consult as appropriate with TMX Controller group
- Working with the external auditors on quarterly reviews and annual audits
Financial Reporting
- Ownership of the monthly, quarterly and annual production of financial statements for the legal entities of the BU.
- Ownership of the monthly dashboard as well as the quarterly and annual financial results packages
- Preparation of quarterly finance material for the the TSX Trust board;
- Act as one of the IFRS subject matter experts and provide research on accounting issues, as required, and maintain current knowledge of accounting, legal, procedural and technology developments as they relate to the BU
- Prepare various supplementary schedules, analyze and proof the quarterly and annual MD&A, Press releases, Investor Relation’s presentations, CEO and CFO communications with shareholders and analysts, Annual Information Return and Annual Report as they relate to respective BU
Other
- Manage, coach and develop a team of finance professionals
- Responsible for the quarterly sign off of the BU CEO/CFO certification process
- Support matters as it relates to OSFI and regulators of TSX Trust
- Assist the Corporate finance & development team with any projects
- Integration of centralized accounting and financial reporting services arising from acquisitions

University graduate plus a CPA designation is required.
