Based in New Brunswick since 2008, the GJV Group Ltd. is a privately owned, diversified holding company whose subsidiaries engage in the hospitality, self-storage, car wash, and commercial and residential real estate industries. Highly entrepreneurial, GJV is focused on growing through business acquisitions and investments. We then enhance the operational processes of those businesses to increase their services and value proposition. With over 50 employees and growing, current holdings include Rubber Duck Car Wash, Oromocto Self Storage, Parley Beach Self Storage, William’s Seafood Restaurant, and other real estate businesses across NS, NB and PEI.

During an exciting time for the company, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Director of Finance to join our rapidly growing entrepreneurial company. As the Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing our financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial operations. You will collaborate closely with the President and executive team, providing valuable insights and financial guidance to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities will include:

• Financial Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, P&L statement, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial data and provide meaningful insights to support management decisions.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports to management regarding financial performance and trends.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads to establish financial targets and objectives.
• Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
• Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.

Cash Flow Management:

• Manage cash flow, including cash flow projections, monitoring liquidity, and optimizing working capital.
• Implement effective cash management procedures and controls to minimize risk and ensure efficient use of funds.
• Coordinate and manage banking covenants and general banking relationships.

Financial Operations and Compliance:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.

Financial Strategy and Planning:

• Provide financial insights, data analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business growth initiatives.
• Collaborate with the executive team to evaluate new business opportunities, investments, and potential risks.
• Assist in the development and execution of long-term financial strategies and plans.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is a must.
• Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced Excel skills. Experience with Xero would be an asset
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
