The position requires strong financial modeling, presentation, and communication skills. This is a highly visible role with senior leadership within DBTS.
What will you do?
In partnership with DBTS Finance leadership team, lead the budgeting and forecasting cycles with emphasis on the following:
- Establishing and managing timelines
- Setting rules for pre-population of budget and forecast data
- Managing the multi-dimensional allocations (taking expenses from cost centers to product view for full recovery)
- Establishing annual product rates for internal chargebacks
- Consolidate the chargeback statements to all Sun Life entities
- Consolidate the expenses and P&L views for executive consumption including preparation of presentation slides and exhibits (i.e. “tell the story”)
- Consolidate the monthly results (expenses and P&L view) and variance explanations
- Work with individual Finance Managers to prepare the variance commentary and consolidate for executive consumption (i.e. tell the story and the “so-what”)
- Work with DBTS Finance leadership to provide guidance for “year-to-go” (i.e. “now-what”)
- Actively manage the expenses and P&L positions across all areas within DBTS
- This entails working collaboratively with Finance Managers, Directors and AVP to manage expense over/under spend across areas while balancing the requirement to remaining flat to Budget overall
- Working with Finance Managers to present the “year-to-go” forecast by factoring in timing of spend and identifying permanent (un)favorability
- Managing the annual credits issued to business partners
- Lead the annual SRED tax credit process
- Perform ad-hoc analysis upon request
- Given the nature of the role, a large part of the role is also managing ad-hoc analysis requests coming from senior leadership (including IT and Finance leadership) with a short response time window
Breakdown of the Role:
- Consolidations (running the consolidation rules and updating presentation materials) – 25%
- Actively managing the expenses and P&L positions – 40%
- Ad-hoc analysis/requests – 35%
What you will need to succeed?
- Proven track record of managing consolidation activities with large organizations including analysis and recommendations
- Proven track record of managing multiple (and often conflicting) timelines
- Extensive experience in financial modeling and presentation skills including preparation of slides and exhibits
- Accounting designation along with 5-7 years of progressive financial management & analysis experience
- Ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges
- Experience in working in large, complex organizations
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary and bonus structure influenced by market range data
- Pension, stock and savings programs to help build and enhance your future financial security
- A common sense dress code, where you dictate how you dress based on your day
- An environment of continuous learning and improvement
- The opportunity to move along a variety of career paths with amazing networking potential.
