Job description: Are you currently seeking an opportunity in accounting and finance, but only looking to work PART TIME hours? If so, I have a great opportunity for you based in Burnaby!

This position will have a start date of August 29th, and start on contract for the first 2-3 months before converting to a permanent role.

TITLE: Junior Accountant
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time position (0.6 FTE)

This position requires a proven ability to multi-task efficiently to ensure that financial and accounting needs are fully supported in terms of the Company’s objectives. This is an office-based role that requires the candidate to work as part of a growing team in a very busy company environment. You will report on a day-to-day basis to the Controller.

Responsibilities

  • Bi-weekly AP payment runs (setting up ACH payments and wire payments)
  • Processing vendor invoices and setting up new vendors
  • Prepare journal entries
  • GST, PST, and WCB returns
  • Maintain Balance Sheet schedules, such as prepaid, fixed assets, and accruals listings
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile General Ledger
  • Prepare timely and accurate corporate credit card reconciliations
  • Process expense reports

Qualifications

  • Accounting diploma or degree
  • 2 years of accounting experience minimum
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems (QuickBooks online)
  • Proficiency with O365 skills, specifically Excel
  • Organized with strong attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills
