The Opportunity
We are actively seeking a Maintenance Manager to join our growing leadership team at AGI Swift Current, a division of AGI. In this role you will pride yourself on being a hands-on manager with an open-door policy. You are noted for treating your team as family and getting to know what motivates them to succeed. The Team
We are currently a dynamic team of 2 from varied backgrounds. We collaborate closely with each other as well as the entire AGI Swift Current Leadership Team. The Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
The Maintenance Manager will supervise all repair, training, budgeting, and other maintenance activities required for the successful and efficient operation of our facility. Provides leadership, direction, and control over all related functions in compliance with Corporate, Plant, and Department policies and objectives and will require the following but not limited to:
- Ensuring compliance with all safety legislation and procedures
- Supervision of team members
- Managing team members timecard use, including attendance, vacation time and overtime
- Assisting with the selection and orientation of new team members
- Ensuring training and development of team members takes place
- Conducting performance reviews of team members
- Cooperating with all areas within the company to ensure overall company goals are met
- Implementing cost-effective procedures and process improvements
- Conducting team meetings as required
- Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance with the Operations Manager and subcontractors
- Ensure work orders are well coordinated internally with operations, parts, technicians (or subcontractors)
- Establish a system to evaluate and check quality/performance of completed work orders and preventative maintenance
- Maintain the preventative maintenance program for each type of asset
- Lead daily toolbox/production meetings. Identify and act on solutions to problems identified during meetings.
- Coach train, and mentor all maintenance staff
- Development and implement a training program for maintenance staff to reduce reliance on external vendors
Qualifications
- 5 years of managerial experience Manufacturing, Agriculture, Mechanical or Industrial industries
- 5 years of Industrial mechanic/millwright work experience
- Innovative, ability to identify and implement new processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of the team and project.
- Developed communication skills, written/oral.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated
- Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Developed decision making skills
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards etc.
- Proficient in working with computers and various software applications.
- 5 Experience and/or certification in 5S Lean Manufacturing Methodology is an asset
