Closing: When Filled

Location: Edmonton Southside

You’re one of those rare people who know how to tap into the strengths of both the left and right sides of your brain. On the one hand, you’re an accounting professional — a hardcore number cruncher with proven experience leading accounting teams. On the flip side, you’ve got a knack for getting people to listen to you and inspiring them to do great work. Building and leading successful teams come naturally to you, as naturally as leading like an entrepreneur with a laser-focus on our customers – it’s just how you roll.

WHAT MOVES YOU

  • You’re driven by a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • You’re not one to make snap judgments – you look at an issue from all angles before making a decision.
  • No one has to light a fire under you. Not only are you always ready to take the initiative, you’re adept at managing multiple tasks and deadlines successfully.
  • Your excellent communication skills make it easy for you to connect with and influence others.
  • You’re a strong leader who enjoys managing people and managing work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the Associate Vice President, Finance & Properties.
  • Lead and mentor a team of professional and technical accounting staff.
  • Oversee standard accounting cycle activities to ensure they are completed timely and accurately.
  • Prepare and present financial information to support business leaders and assist with decision-making.
  • Interpret financial information to provide advice and recommendations to achieve organizational strategies.
  • Support the budget development and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure financial information is compliant with IFRS and corporate policies/procedures.
  • Develop and support financial policies and procedures to protect our members and the Association.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and improved efficiency.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in Accounting or Business.
  • You have a professional accounting designation.
  • You have at least seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience, and preferably two (2) years experience leading a team.

WHAT YOU’LL GET

  • Competitive salary.
  • Flexible benefits.
  • Outstanding employer-paid Pension Plan.
  • Great AMA discounts.
  • Unlimited learning opportunities.
  • Paid Vacation and other paid time off including a Volunteer Day and Me-Day
  • Flexible work model.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
