Job Description:

This is a hands on role that will be responsible for: consultation with business teams, technical leadership, process improvement, application management and system documentation of Corporate Finance applications to complete improvement initiatives.

You will work with Finance teams to understand requirements, work through potential solutions, design, and configuration of application solutions to meet business needs. You will support and coach business teams on Corporate finance application functionality and support business development and training where applicable. You will also work closely with DBTS teams (e.g. data architects, business intelligence/reporting, server management, web hosting, etc.) as required. You will collaborate closely with finance teams to ensure successful delivery and be forward looking to identify and resolve issues.

You will support the Director, Finance Initiatives to ensure Corporate Finance applications meet Sun Life’s security and compliance standards, follow best practices and general computing controls.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, adaptable individual with strong leadership, and process evaluation abilities, with a holistic view to technology integration and automation. They will be excited to work with finance teams to understand their needs and use technology to solve their business problems. What will you do?

Support the Product manager for Corporate Finance applications and the Finance Data Integration Team

Become a subject matter expert of Finance systems and provide technical support as needed including, but not limited to: code reviews, debugging, root cause analysis, system configuration, testing, and implementation

Liaison between business and IT: work with IT operation and project teams as needed to implement and maintain Corporate Finance systems

Work directly with the Finance teams to understand their needs, provide technical solutions which might include: Longview configuration, SharePoint configuration, SAP AFO report development, Excel VBA, etc.

Participate in technical road mapping for Corporate Finance and perform application health checks

Work with external software vendors during vendor implementations, renewal activities and issue resolution

Stay current with trends in emerging technologies and how they could apply to Sun Life

Core Competencies:

Familiarity with computer programming languages such as VBA and/or SQL

Familiarity with SharePoint Online site design, support and maintenance

Advanced skill with Microsoft Office 365

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences including a passion for documentation

Able to work both independently and within a global multi-site team

Proactive and self-directed with excellent organizing, planning and time management skills and able to progress on multiple assignments at once

Able to effectively operate at both a big picture high level, as well as deep in the details

Able to learn quickly and ramp up on new technologies, systems and business concepts

Able to balance tactical and strategic objectives and think beyond the immediate problem with ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner

What do you need to succeed?

University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline

Experienced and passionate about helping teams achieve process improvements

Experience working within both business and IT environments.

What sets you apart?

Experience with Longview, SAP Analysis for Office, SharePoint, advance Excel capability, or other in-depth knowledge of other Financial systems

Knowledge of Finance business concepts and how to leverage technology solutions for business needs

Unique / Additional Requirements:

Periodic weekend / after-hours work may be required to support project implementations and system upgrades

Occasional travel between SL locations may be required depending on work assignment

Providing on-call support for production environments schedule may be required

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
