Job description: Payroll Associate for provincial health care sector client, downtown Toronto.

Job Type: Temporary.
Initial Term: ASAP to March 31, 2023.
Compensation: $23.57 per hour to $26.43 per hour, according to experience.

Regular Work Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm not including unpaid .75 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 work hours per week).
Work Location: Hybrid; split 2/3 days per week between remote-based and onsite work at client’s downtown Toronto office, at TTC Station.
Onsite Dress Code: Business or Neat Casual Dress; Facemask to be worn in designated areas of client facilities if required; Non-Scented Personal Products Workplace Policy in effect.
Responsibilities Summary:
To support timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salary, part-time, union and non-union Employees. To review all Time and Attendance submissions, and assist with other payroll administration responsibilities as required.
- Review all payroll inputs submitted by Employees into the organization’s Time and Attendance system (e.g. electronic time sheets). Ensure all entries (e.g. standard hours, overtime hours, shift premiums, on-call hours, statutory holidays, etc.) are accurate, complete, and in compliance with applicable collective agreements and corporate policy.
- Liaise with Employees, Timesheet Signatories, and Managers to ensure timesheets are submitted in a timely and accurate manner, aligned with pay period close deadlines.
- Assist with training and advising Employees, Timesheet Signatories and Managers on how to properly capture hours within the Time and Attendance system, and assist with any adjustment entries to Time and Attendance submissions as required.
- Enter Employee and payroll data into the Payroll system as required.
- Receive, review, investigate and respond to inquiries sent to the Payroll inbox (e.g. pay discrepancies, time coding, vacation or overtime accruals), forwarding more complex matters to the appropriate Payroll team member as needed. Ensure all inquiries are addressed within a timely fashion.
- Receive and distribute Payroll Department mail, and maintain hard copy files of payroll documents.
- Additional payroll administration responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Post Secondary education in accounting or business administration.
Preferred Work Experience: Approximately 2+ years of experience processing a full cycle payroll for both union and non union staff.
Preferred Sector Experience: Payroll processing experience for multiple collective agreements and multiple locations is an asset.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Proficiency with MSOffice (Word, Outlook, Excel) (will be tested).
- Fast and accurate data entry skills (will be tested).
- Familiar with computerized payroll systems such as ADP Workforce Now and Workday (Time and Absence modules).
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll processes and best practices, and applicable legislative requirements.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including satisfactory business writing skills.

Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work occasional overtime as needed to meet timelines during high workload periods.
- Ability to work both remotely and onsite as required, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Provision of certification of full COVID-19 vaccination series prior to assignment start.
