Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in a formal co-op/internship program with their post-secondary institution OR Students must be returning to their post-secondary institution after this work term

The Role

We’re seeking a Co-op Student to join our Finance-Credit, Risk Management & Insurance team. Reporting to the Manager – Credit, Contracts, Risk Management & Insurance, you´ll be working with a team of dedicated employees across North America.

During your work term, we will push you to be your best by exposing you to challenging projects and giving you the opportunity to take ownership of your work term. You will gain practical experience, develop technical skills to complement your academic learning, and gain exposure to future opportunities at our company. To succeed, you’ll need to cultivate and communicate a clear vision and set goals for yourself, whilst also juggling individual country specific targets.

Some of the key responsibilities of this Finance Co-op Student role will be:

  • Perform credit and financial analysis on new and existing counterparties, joint venture partners and critical suppliers;
  • Monitor credit exposure against approved credit limits, investigate and report over limit situations;
  • Confirm marketing related transactions and resolve discrepancies between CNOOC and counterparty paper;
  • Perform daily clearing broker exposure reconciliations, validate margin calls and co-ordinate the transfer of cash collateral;
  • Monitor and validate hedging related transactions;
  • Assist with negotiation and execution of marketing contracts and related credit support (incoming and outgoing guarantees and security instruments);
  • Monitor marketing business activity for compliance and escalate issues as appropriate;
  • Maintain counterparty information in data systems;
  • Generate daily, weekly and monthly credit and hedging related reports for front office and key stakeholders as needed;
  • Liaise with external counterparties and partners as required;
  • Obtain the necessary on-boarding and KYC information to enable marketing counterparties;
  • Work with business units to gather insurance underwriting information; analyze and organize the data;
  • Assist the team in working with brokers to execute insurance renewals;
  • Actively assist the team on advancing insurance claims;
  • Perform insurance tax calculations and filing of returns;
  • Arrange payment for invoices and help prepare premium allocations;
  • Review, analyze, and make recommendations on business contracts;
  • Special projects as required.
