Job title: Senior Finance Specialist – Payroll Accounting

Job description:

  • Prepare weekly payroll GL reconciliation for 4 legal entities, ensure transfer of information between Workday and SAP.
  • Ensure that GL accounts and wage type codes are correctly mapped.
  • Review and record payroll remittance payment and back-charges.
  • Work closely with HR department to resolve inquires and issues.
  • Assist with year-end payroll reconciliation.
  • Participate in the month end closing process.
  • Perform reconciliation of payroll balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare and book monthly journal entries for payroll accruals and cost center allocations.
  • Support implementation of relevant standards, processes, policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of payroll accounting.
  • Support training activities and best practice sharing in the defined payroll area.
  • Support all payroll accounting and reporting activities.
  • Review and perform internal controls over financial reporting processes in the respective areas of responsibility.
  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), recommend, and implement improvements and provides solutions to Human Resources and Finance.

Your background

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Good understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and accounting
  • Experienced with accounting systems, Workday and SAP knowledge is an asset.
  • Experienced with system implementations is a plus
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced in process improvement
  • Experienced in large, complex, and fast-paced organizations
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment where requirements and procedures continuously evolve
  • Must maintain confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
  • Bilingualism (French-English), both verbal and written skills
