The Retail Finance department assumes responsibility for managing and reporting the organization’s finances. It is committed to continuous improvements in the way it organizes the financial and accounting affairs, including the preparation and presentation of appropriate accounts and to streamline processes, improves controls and date integrity within the financial ERP system.
Please note, this is a hybrid role located at our Mississauga Head Office.
The primary function of this position is to provide support to Finance for the ongoing accounting functions that include collections, recording of revenue, expenses, balance sheet accounts reconciliation, month end closing process, indirect sales tax analysis and maintenance of user procedural manual. This function includes resolving business process issues within the collection process and financial ERP system. To achieve our collective success, a working knowledge of the billing and collection processes and accountability for quantity and quality metrics are key expectations of the role. Beyond your core responsibilities, you are expected to embrace a high-performance culture through teamwork, personal development and accountability. As a Senior Analyst, you are to identify accounts receivable trends, implement tactics to improve collections and communicate opportunities for best practices based on issues identified. An ideal candidate must have also worked in a financial ERP system and have experienced in applying Accounting Principles and Standards as part of the features used within the ERP system, this is to achieve maximize process efficiency and data integrity.
Essential Functions:
Perform all accounting functions related to business unit
Prepare and post details of business transactions to journals, general ledger and other accounting records
Perform full cycle month-end and year-end closing activities
Responsible for bank reconciliation and monitoring bank balances
Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts and income statement accounts
Perform billing functions based on pre-defined schedule
Provide backup support for refund functions within Accounts Payable
Perform sales tax analysis before filing
Perform collection activities that include investigation of root cause of non-payment and focusing on steps necessary to resolve
Identify payment issues/trends, develop and implement processes to improve results
Filing electronic records with credit bureaus and liaising between parties
Resolve non-routine issues escalated from less experienced team members
Serves as a mentor for new hires on tasks associated with role
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policies and practices
Liaise with operations teams and business partners to meet their accounting needs
Liaise with internal and external auditors
Assist in special assignments as required
Qualifications:
8 + years of full accounting cycle and professional collection experience
University Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
Solid technical and analytical skills with high degree of accuracy
Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft D365 or financial ERP system
Demonstrates initiative, accountability and ownership and works with minimum supervision
Self-motivated and goal-oriented, ability to embrace change and be a change champion for team
Ability to meet tight deadlines and flexibility to accept diverse responsibilities
Team player committed to achieving common departmental objectives
Solid PC skills and a strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of tools with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
Bilingual (English/French) is considered a strong asset
Knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy operations industry is preferred
Experience working in agile teams
