In this role, you will mainly manage, maintain and provide technical, confidential interpretation and advice regarding the company’s current financial systems.   • Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8 AM – 4 PM (3 days /week)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers all accounts and acts as a resource person and resolve problems. Prepares journal and ledger entries. Manages and monitors the processing of financial and accounting transactions. Examines and analyses accounting and financial records and documents such as bank statements, expenditures, budgets, loans, and others.
  • Confidentially manages all issues related to Labouré relations around the application of collective bargaining agreements and pay.
  • Assist the Executive Director in administering collective agreements
  • Manages and ensures accuracy, compliance and oversees the preparation, and verifies the various reports and analyses such as period-end balance sheets and income statements, general ledger, year-end working papers, etc
  • Manages and maintains computerized information systems and participates in their implementation and development.
  • Manages and sets up accounts, sub-accounts, and budgets. Approves expenditures, receives funds and processes deposits. Compiles and prepares material to be sent to the bank. Reviews, verifies and processes expense reports, requisitions, claims, etc
  • Prepares, interprets and maintains records that are applied by the various collective agreement that set out the terms and conditions of employment affecting union employees covered under the agreements.
  • Manages the work of auditors to design, maintain, and prepare account reconciliation and analytic working papers
  • Manages and performs accounting functions including posting to the general ledger, completing trial balances, reviewing journal entries, and reconciling and balancing payroll data.
  • Prepares or ensures the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, annual T-4 slips and draft budgets, and collects information required for audits.
  • Manages and performs banking functions such as preparing and making bank deposits, including reconciling bank statements, monitoring bank account memos and bank charges, and maintaining lists of authorized signing officers for bank accounts.
  • Manages and collects monthly rent cheques, distributes rent receipts to tenants.
  • Manages cash resources by performing duties such as monitoring and reporting cash deficiencies.
  • Answers inquiries by telephone and in person and takes corrective action.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Post-secondary training in accounting (CPA/ CA) is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in technical, interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and advice regarding the company’s current accounting systems.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting software and word processing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must possess the personal qualities and attitudes that maintain and respect the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the staff and tenants.
  • Should have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations with tenants, residents, clients, and staff.
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
