Reporting to: Director of Finance & Operations
Rate: $60,000–$70,000 per annum, prorated to 3 days per week
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the coordination and support for all aspects of hiring, training, and HR support staff at MOCA. The duties include executing the onboarding of new employees, training employees about policies and procedures, and providing HR support.
Responsibilities

- Work with Director level staff to support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems for a team of 20+ employees
- In consultation with the hiring managers, prepare job descriptions, posting ads, and coordinate the hiring process
- Create and implement effective onboarding and offboarding plans
- Develop training and professional development programs
- Assist managers in performance management processes
- Working closely with the Director level staff, coordinate the management of disciplinary and grievance issues
- Liaise with MOCA’s employment legal team as required
- Maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements
- Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance and best practices
- Assist in the development of workplace policies and procedures
- Manage the relationship with our benefits broker for MOCA’s benefits programme; research options for other staff benefits like RRSP, pension plans, etc.
- Coordinate any changes to salaries and benefits with payroll staff
- Serve as a resource for answering questions for policies and procedures at the museum
Requirements:
Qualifications
Experience and Skills
- 3+ years experience as an HR officer, administrator, or other HR position
- Demonstrated knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training, development, etc.)
- Understanding of Employment Standards Act and other relevant legislation
- Relevant post-secondary education; Certified Human Resources Professional required
- Experience in institutional equity initiatives
- Experience with Ceridian Dayforce an asset
- Advanced Microsoft Office and Google Workspace skills
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Toronto’s arts community is considered an asset
- Experience working at multi-stakeholder not-for-profit and/or in a start-up environment is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
