Internal Audit & SOX Supervisor
(Permanent Position)
Overall Responsibility:
To assist Head of Internal Assurance & SOX (HIAS) in designing and performing projects (audits, advisory services, agile reviews) in the risk-based audit plan and performing SOx reviews. Generally, this will mean leading a team of internal auditors. To this extent, the Supervisor will also take over certain administrative and organizational responsibilities from the HIAS. All projects will be performed as per the methodology including documentation requirements and in conformance with the IIA standards. The Supervisor will independently manage/perform all parts of the overall project (from the initial planning to the completion including issuance of report or memo) and deliver cost effective, objective, and innovative services in area of risk management and control. This will also include assisting the HIAS in conducting the integrated risk assessment for the assigned area.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct, document, and update on an ongoing basis the integrated risk assessment used for selecting projects for inclusion in the risk- based audit plan and for SOx planning purposes for the assigned region. Ensure that high risk & critical to the business are prioritized for inclusion in the risk- based audit plan and completion of the risk- based audit plan is feasible.
- As assigned, conduct, and lead the performance and completion of projects on the risk-based Audit plan, SOx testing, and Fraud investigations. Ensure conformance with methodologies requirements for Audits, SOx, and Forensics regarding performed activities in assigned area.
- Ensure the IIA professional standards are met throughout assigned area, regarding the performance and the documentation of work performed. Ensure all required information for audit plan, project files, SOx assessment, time reporting, and recommendation follow up is documented in accordance with the methodology
- Assign team members to projects to ensure completion of all projects in the risk-based audit plan within the current audit year. Draft and issue final audit reports and memos to management. Perform follow-ups of recommendations to management’s implementation of recommendations.
- Perform special assignments upon request.
- Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities. Provide direction and appropriate guidance as required to region team and monitor their development against set objectives.
- Complete regular evaluations of team and provide the necessary feedback. Assess and identify the development needs of the team and to develop a suitable plan of action for their development
- Keep up with emerging technologies and integrate such technologies into Audit, SOx, and Forensic activities in assigned region.
- Maintain effective working relationships with management in assigned region to facilitate the resolution of conflicts if necessary and provide management with feedback on Global Assurance and company matters.
- Develop and maintain a broad internal and external network.
Qualifications:
- 4-year University degree(Accountancy / Economics / Business Administration / Engineering / Computer Science /Law);
- At least two advanced professional and audit-related designations (preferable CPA and CIA) are required. More than two professional or audit-related designations are an asset.
- 7+ years of relevant professional experience.

- Expert understanding and orientation to process management and improvement is required.
- Advanced understanding of the steel industry.
Work Environment:
- Office environment with plant exposure on various projects. Travel to the joint venture and subsidiary locations for stays generally in the range of 1 week.
- This position is currently eligible for remote work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the future, this position may be eligible to work remote on an ad hoc or part time basis.
Hours of Work:
- Days, Monday to Friday with extended hours as required to meet project deadlines or resulting from periods of peak workloads.
