The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $51,466 – $57,922 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
Performance range: starting salary to max of $67,542 is available through annual performance increases
Job Summary

We consist of three major units: Academic & Administrative Services, Infrastructure Services, and UVic Online, all working together to provide computing, communications and technology in support of the university’s learning, teaching, research and administrative activities. We exist in a complex work environment where we must effectively navigate complex, cutting edge and ever-changing technology, and information security and privacy issues in order to be the best information systems organization in the Canadian university system.
Reporting to the Team Lead, Media Services, and working under the guidance of the Associate Director of Client Technologies, the Media Consultant supports campus clients in their use of information technology resources, providing day-to-day support of videoconferencing facilities and academic classroom technology used for e*learning, teaching and research. The Media Consultant works to ensure success and progress of equipment during sessions, troubleshooting to resolve and report on issues.
This position is also responsible for knowledge sharing with clients, delivering tutorials to clients, providing support and training to other staff and developing or contributing to related resources and guidelines. The Media Consultant contributes to the development and fosters the growth of videoconference resources and expertise.
The Media Consultant will also provide supplementary staffing delivering other university services including webcasting, video recording, and video production on an as needed basis. The duties and responsibilities of this position will require the successful applicant to work varied shifts to staff videoconference sessions outside of normal business hours which are Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have a related University undergraduate degree and at least one year of experience. Equivalent combinations of training, education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience and knowledge requirements:
- Proven customer service experience
- Experience supporting videoconference sessions, live webcasting, and video recordings
- Knowledge of current videoconferencing, webcasting, and video recording and production applications
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for email and calendaring.
Competency requirements:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to interact with campus clients in a tactful, objective and respectful manner
- Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with clients
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent technical analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
Assets:
- Adobe Final Cut Pro X
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Familiarity with BlueJeans Meetings Platform (or similar platform)
