Job description: What is the opportunity?
The RBC Team in Halifax will be hiring for multiple Technical Systems Analyst roles on the Financial Crimes, Finance IT, Risk IT, Fraud and Insurance teams. This role will require you to be located in the Halifax / Nova Scotia region and be able to commute to the office if needed. As a Technical Systems Analyst you provide support for a suite of business mission-critical and complex applications, understanding both front and back-end of the applications. The technology platform spans the breadth of Windows and Linux platforms, Python / Java environments and MS SQL Server.
What will you do?
- Support batch processing and job automation for different applications.
- Partner with infrastructure and business teams to resolve business system issues (i.e. workflow solutions, batch cycle troubleshooting, technical interface issues, hardware issues, etc.).
- Work with development teams to review requirements and implementation plans, and facilitate transition to support and manage implementation to production environments.
- Build relationships with business and infrastructure teams that will facilitate becoming an application and business workflow subject matter expert.
- Define, schedule, and manage change/release management working with needed RBC parties and vendors and evaluate and operate day-to-day activities with third party vendors.
- Conduct meetings, give presentations, and provide consulting services to business partners on new initiatives.
- Support implementation of DevOPS practices and tools and review / write code in either Python, Java or shell scripting to support business needs and requirements.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to read stored procedures, create and run SQL queries, troubleshoot batch cycle issues, and diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
- Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to new challenges
- Full Stack Java
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with SQL environments and SQL Query.
- Experience with Python or Java programming, Shell Scripting
- Experience with Spark, Spring or Angular Framework
- Quality Engineer knowledge or experience
- Microservices or APIGee experience.
