Job Summary
As stewards of the campus, Facilities Management fosters and enriches an inviting and functional environment that welcomes and supports all who come here. Facilities Management’s customers include Deans, departments, faculty, staff and students. The department’s branches work together as a team to ensure a high standard of customer service delivery, as well as the effective, efficient and safe performance for the operation, development and maintenance of campus buildings.
Under limited supervision, performs the detailed cleaning of high-touch surfaces to maintain a high level of sanitation in buildings and facilities across campus. Duties range form cleaning and applying disinfectant to surfaces in various area types from washrooms to classrooms, moving furniture and equipment as needed, and replenishing supplies. Duties may also include collecting waste and recycling for proper disposal. Maintains a high standard of cleanliness, sanititaion and safety including contributing to the security of facilities.
Job Requirements
Skills:
- Ability to follow written and verbal instruction accurately;
- Ability to operate standard hand and power cleaning tools;
- Ability to learn and apply new techniques;
- Ability to carry out an effective work schedule under limited supervision and utilize materials, equipment and resources for maximum benefit;
- Ability to appropriately present the unit and its services, presenting a neat and clean appearance; and,
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff and students, and to discriminate as to the reasonableness of special requests and cooperate as required.
In addition, this position requires the following core competencies:

Specialized Knowledge/Education:

- Demonstrated working knowledge of safe work procedures and safe chemical handling
Experience:
A minimum of six months institutional janitorial experience. Equivalent combinations of training, education and/or experience may be considered.
Requires sufficient strength, stamina and coordination to perform a variety of routine, manual tasks, constant mobility (bending, lifting and reaching) and ability to operate equipment and use tools continuously.
Operational hours and service requirement require willingness to work any recognized shift including weekends.
